This is why people don’t respect females who play video games. Fake ass “gamer girls” like this are a huge part of the problem. I am aware that this one girl does not equal all of us as females, but can you really blame some guys for being fed up with female gamers when they see shit like this? You are not special because you have boobs and a vagina. You are not special because you pose like this with a console, game, and controllers. You look like an airhead; if I asked you who Zelda is you’d probably say “Oh, I LOVE him”. It’s all about how you portray yourself. This is why I have guys on my Steam friends list and none of them see me as anything but a teammate they can count on for a good game. I’ve seen guys do this before, very similar shit, and no one screams that he’s demeaning himself or being ‘degrading’ to himself or other men.
There are plenty of fucking women who have never taken a picture of themselves and have gotten shit from people anyways. Seriously. There was a lovely little rant by a coach hired by Capcom who made the assertion that trying to take sexual harassment out of the fighting game community was unethical. That’s right. He said sexual harassment was ethical and had almost everyone else in the vicinity agreed with him.
Of course, not everyone is that extreme. But women do fucking get harassed sexually and treated like shit for being women.
But saying women get harassed because of a few pictures like this is the same damn thing as saying gay people get bullied because some of them are too flamboyant about it.
